  5. Basically, it's this very annoying conjecture which hasn't been proven or disproven.

    The author states the hypotheses of this conjecture, but instead of concluding "...if you repeat this procedure long enough you'll eventually get to one," he concludes "...eventually your friends stop calling you...."
