Those who think they're going to save the world by attending The internet is NOT your problem
to protest the big anti-Internet asifa, should first read the wisdom of Shulem Deen and Ushi Katz.
Have the OTD rabble rousers forgotten how frum people think? Sure, the secular press will love to write about them and their I-grew-up-in-a-cult horror stories, but the frummies they're trying to enlighten will never in a million years listen to them.

Your point being what exactly?
ReplyDeletethat the counter-rally won't accomplish anything.
ReplyDeleteDo you think anyone actually thinks they'll accomplish anything?
ReplyDeleteyes! look what's happening on facebook with that event.
ReplyDeleteWell, they're obviously delusional. I mean, they'll accomplish just as much as the guys inside the stadium, which is to say, nothing.
ReplyDeleteAnd by the by, neither faction is not going to accomplish anything because they're frum or OTD, but rather because these sorts of things never (well, extremely rarely) accomplish anything.
ReplyDeleteMaybe I'll go just to observe.
ReplyDeleteDon't you have finals coming up?
ReplyDeleteThat's why it's only a maybe.
ReplyDeleteThey're renting out a whole stadium...to discuss the dangers of popular culture.
ReplyDeleteHmmm
I'm sure you'd love to see what they'll say about popular culture. Too bad. you're not invited. Your husband will explain to the dangers of popular culture.
ReplyDeleteIgnorance is a happy place.
ReplyDelete*is my happy place.
ReplyDeleteI've long told people that asked my opinion, that for the counter rally to work, you need frum folk leading the show - not OTD.
ReplyDeleteWhat's more, as big an issue that abuse may be (and it is!) it's a red herring issue.
what makes it a red herring?
ReplyDeleteIt's a separate issue. It doesn't answer any of the taanos against the Internet, real or otherwise.
